Instructor Training

Delegate Eligibility
Tuition and practice in the delivery of practical and theoretical training of Lift Truck Operators, which ensure that successful delegates meet the necessary standards laid down by the Health and Safety Executive and RTITB.

Course Content

  • Theory
  • Accident prevention & analysis
  • Role of Instructor Principles of instruction
  • Simple task analysis & practical lesson planning
  • Question and answer techniques, design and use of training aids
  • Principles of lifting
  • Operator certification & classroom presentation
  • Legislation, code of practice, three stages of operator training
  • Practical Test
  • Lift truck familiarisation
  • Battery care and maintenance
  • Daily routines
  • Setting up, conducting and marking the Basic Operating Skills Test

Duration of Course

Two weeks (10 consecutive working days)
Note: The course can be extended to 12 days, for those who wish to refresh their Lift Truck operating practice.

Examinations

Test(s) of basic Operating Skills - Practical test to Instructor standard
RTITB Examination of Practical Instructional Ability
RTITB Examination of Instructor Associated Knowledge

Qualification

Delegates will be externally examined and if successful will be eligible to apply for entry to the RTITB National Register of Lift Truck Instructors for a period of 5 years
