Our special-built vehicle EJQ 325 is a real power horse operating in the production plant of the “Deutsche Bahn” in Dortmund: It transports wheel sets for IC and ICE train wagons.
Be it small series or single-unit vehicle – the experts in our special-built production plant in Lüneburg develop individual vehicles for an abundant number of specific demands. Modified workflow needs special-built vehicle
In order to change wheel sets from Intercity and Intercity Express train wagons, the “Deutsche Bahn“ previously utilized a pedestrian front-cabin forklift truck. Due to a workflow restructuring the wheel sets had to be moved to another hall. The special challenge: There is only a narrow corridor 2.9 meters wide for loads with a diameter of 2.4 meters. Therefore, precision is of the utmost importance.
2.5 tons have to be lifted over 550 millimeters
The “Deutsche Bahn“ approached our special-built engineers with extraordinary demands: It must be possible to maneuver the vehicle with extreme precision for taking the load. Furthermore, the wheel sets weighing 2.5 tons each have to be lifted over 550 millimeters. The development and production team were able to create the desired solution: the special-built-vehicle EJQ 325, our candidate for the IFOY Award 2016 in the category “Special Vehicle”.
