Driving for work training

This course is designed for any person who drives on the road as part of their work either in a vehicle provided by their employer or their own vehicle and receives an allowance/payment from their employer for distances driven.

Health and Safety regulations apply to driving for work as they apply to all other work activities. These legal provisions are applicable in instances where you are operating a commercial fleet but also in scenarios where employees use their private vehicles during their working day. Commuting for work is not generally classified as driving for work, except when the persons journey starts from their home, and they are travelling to a work location that is not their usual place of work.

Aim:

This aim is to provide drivers with the skills and knowledge they need to understand, identify, evaluate, and manage the risks associated when driving.

  • Eyesight and Vehicle Check
  • Controls and Instructions of use
  • Journey Planning
  • Demonstration drives with commentary.
  • Manoeuvring, reversing, and parking practical and best practice theory
  • Understanding vehicle controls and vehicle checks procedures.
  • 1:1 Practical Vehicle Training

Course Method:

The course is delivered through a combination of theory-based tutorials and practical assessment and training.

Training Location:

On or off site.

Course Duration:

This is a one-day course.

Instruction and Certification:

All instruction and certification are conducted by accredited instructors who are qualified as such in their respective disciplines. Successful candidates will receive a certificate of attendance, debrief and further recommendations following the days training.
