Forklift Instructor Course

Eligibility
Tuition and practice in the delivery of practical and theoretical training of lift truck operators, which ensures that successful delegates meet the necessary standards laid down by the Health & Safety Executive and RTITB.

Course Content

• Theory
• Accident prevention & analysis
• Role of instructor principles of instruction
• Simple task analysis & practical lesson planning
• Question and answer techniques, design and use of training aids
• Principles of lifting
• Operator certification & classroom presentation
• Legislation, code of practice, three stages of operator training
• Practical test
• Lift truck familiarisation
• Battery care & maintenance
• Daily routines
• Setting up, conducting & marking the basic operating skills test

Duration 
2 weeks (10 consecutive working days)
Note: The course can be extended to 12 days, for those who wish to refresh their lift truck operating practice.

Examinations
Tests of basic operating skills - practical test to instructor standard
RTITB examination of practical instructional ability
RTITB examination of instructor associated knowledge

Qualification
Delegates will be externally examined and if successful will be eligible to apply for entry to the RTITB National Register of lift truck instructors for a period of 5 years

There are some changes on our RTITB instructor course.

Trainee Specification:

Prior to training, candidates should have a minimum of 6 months industrial experience of operating relevant types of Lift Truck and meet the eligibility criteria described in Part One, Section Six of the RTITB Lift Truck Instructors Registration Examination, Requirements and Standards.

Notes:

• Within 3 Months of the course start date novice candidates must complete an online RTITB accredited etruck course. Refresher instructors must complete an etruck refresher course.  For more information see link eTruck Online Training (jungheinrich.ie)
• Novice instructor candidates must hold a current ABA accredited counterbalance or reach truck forklift operator’s licence EG. an RTITB accredited cert
• Candidates must pass The advanced Operational Competence forklift driving test
